Employment & Entrepreneurial Skills Training

Initially supported by UNICEF and the Kingston Restoration Company, in 2001 this support established and cemented our vocational skills training programme which has since become one of our flag-ship activities. Through this initial training – participants have established their own small businesses and in so doing, have been able to provide job opportunities/placements for graduates of our programmes.

Our skills training programmes are now HEART/NTA accredited and presently there are 120 youngsters in training with over 85 having completed training in July 2010. Business entities have continued to show high level of interest in recruiting our graduates for placement in their establishments.

These skills training programme have and continue to capture awards – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places at the National Association of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists annual competitions. Over the years, as these programmes develop, the youngsters have developed a great sense of hope, humility and look forward to the yearly programme offerings.
